Havasupai - Grand Canyon's Hidden Desert Oasis
In a side canyon off the western Grand Canyon lies one of Arizona's most spectacular hidden gems - Havasupai. Known as the "Land of the Blue-Green Water," this remote Native American reservation is home to breathtaking aquamarine waterfalls cascading into lush virgin grottos and travertine pools surrounded by red canyon walls.
Two majestic waterfalls, Havasu Falls and Mooney Falls, plunge over 100 feet into idyllic azure pools perfect for swimming. The stark contrast between the verdant Havasupai oasis and the arid Grand Canyon plateau is part of its wonder. Permits are required to hike or camp here.
North Arizona has mild weather year-round, though summers are very hot. Visiting when temperatures are comfortable from April to June yields smaller crowds. For a true desert mirage, there's nowhere like Havasupai.
